Margaret’s House is a small children’s home in the lower middle-class suburb of Landsowne. This facility caters to a maximum of 22 boys between the ages of 6 and 18 years. The boys are predominantly Afrikaans speaking and come from a variety of different backgrounds. A lot of the work we do involves working with the boys towards creating a positive self-image and building the self-confidence. The boys are involved in life skills straining, individual sessions, group sessions, extramural activities (sport and craft), and family reunification. The social work staff and child care workers are involved in the boys’ daily activities on all levels.
